If you are covered by Empire BlueCross BlueShield, your plan may help pay for medical detox at Allure Detox in West Palm Beach, Florida. Empire now operates under the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield name in New York, so your card may say either. Our admissions team can verify your benefits by phone and explain how your New York plan works at a Florida facility before you make any decisions.

Empire BCBS or The Empire Plan? Know Which One You Have

Two very different plans share the Empire name.

  • Empire BlueCross BlueShield is a commercial insurer in New York, now part of Anthem. If your card says Empire BlueCross BlueShield or Anthem, this page is for you.
  • The Empire Plan is the primary health plan of NYSHIP, the New York State Health Insurance Program for public employees and retirees. If your card says NYSHIP or The Empire Plan, see our Empire Plan page.

How an Empire BCBS Plan Works in Florida

Empire is the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan for much of New York, but Blue plans share a national program called BlueCard. For most Empire PPO and similar plans, BlueCard lets you receive care from providers in the local Blue network when you are outside New York. In Florida, that local network is Florida Blue. This is how many Empire members use their coverage at Allure Detox.

Empire HMO plans generally limit non-emergency care to New York, so if you have an HMO we will need to review your plan with you. Which plan you have is the first thing we confirm during your benefits check.

How Empire BCBS Coverage Works for Detox

Is detox covered?

Empire plans generally cover medically necessary treatment for substance use disorders, including medically supervised detox, residential treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and individual, group, and family therapy. Coverage for co-occurring mental health conditions is usually part of the same benefit.

Is authorization required?

Inpatient detox and residential treatment usually require prior authorization, with continued stays reviewed for medical necessity. Our admissions team submits the request and our clinical team provides the documentation.

What will I pay?

Your cost depends on your plan’s deductible, copays, and coinsurance, and on whether Allure is in network for your plan through BlueCard. We go over the expected costs with you before admission so there are no surprises.

Medical Detox at Allure

We provide medically supervised detox for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other substances. Whether dependence is severe or only beginning, every client is assessed on arrival and given an individualized plan. Medications are used where appropriate to ease withdrawal, and clients are monitored around the clock by a team that specializes in addiction medicine. Detox is the first step, and before you leave we help plan what comes next so there is no gap in care.

Verify Your Empire BCBS Coverage

Call our admissions team with the information on your Empire or Anthem card. We confirm your plan type, verify your behavioral health benefits and BlueCard access, request any authorization needed, and explain your costs. The insurance verification is free and confidential, and it usually takes a few minutes.
