If you are covered by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, your plan may help pay for medical detox at Allure Detox in West Palm Beach, Florida, even though Anthem does not operate in Florida itself. Our admissions team can verify your benefits by phone and explain how your Anthem plan works at a Florida facility before you make any decisions.
What is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield?
Anthem is the Blue Cross Blue Shield licensee in 14 states, operating as Anthem Blue Cross in California and as Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in states including Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia, Connecticut, Colorado, Nevada, and, since 2024, New York, where it was formerly known as Empire BCBS. Its parent company is Elevance Health. Anthem plans include behavioral health benefits that cover mental health and substance use treatment on terms comparable to other medical care.
How an Anthem Plan Works in Florida
Blue plans share a national program called BlueCard. For most Anthem PPO and similar plans, BlueCard lets you receive care from providers in the local Blue network when you are outside your home state, and your claims are routed back to Anthem. In Florida, the local Blue network is Florida Blue, and Allure Detox contracts with Florida Blue. That is how Anthem members use their coverage at Allure as in-network care.
Anthem HMO plans generally limit non-emergency care to their home service area, so if you have an HMO we will need to review your plan with you. Which plan you have is the first thing we confirm during your benefits check.
How Anthem Coverage Works for Detox
Is detox covered?
Anthem plans generally cover medically necessary addiction treatment, including medically supervised detox, residential treatment, medication-assisted treatment, therapy, and aftercare planning. Coverage for co-occurring mental health conditions is usually part of the same benefit.
Is authorization required?
Inpatient detox and residential treatment usually require prior authorization, with continued stays reviewed for medical necessity. Our admissions team submits the request and our clinical team provides the documentation.
What will I pay?
Your cost depends on your plan’s deductible, copays, and coinsurance, and on whether Allure is in network for your plan through BlueCard. We go over the expected costs with you before admission so there are no surprises.
Medical Detox at Allure
We provide medically supervised detox for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other substances. Every client is assessed on arrival and given an individualized plan. Medications are used where appropriate to ease withdrawal, and clients are monitored around the clock by a team that specializes in addiction medicine. Detox is the first step, and before you leave we help plan what comes next so there is no gap in care.
Verify Your Anthem Coverage
Understanding your coverage should not be one more burden when you are already dealing with addiction, your own or someone else’s. Call our admissions team with the information on your Anthem card. We confirm your plan type, verify your behavioral health benefits and BlueCard access, request any authorization needed, and explain your costs. The insurance verification is free and confidential, and it usually takes a few minutes.
