For most people who are physically dependent on drugs or alcohol, recovery starts with medical detox. Withdrawal without medication and medical supervision can be painful, and for some substances, dangerous. It is also one of the most common reasons people return to using before they ever reach treatment. A supervised detox makes withdrawal safer and far more manageable.
Allure Detox provides medical detox in West Palm Beach, Florida for people withdrawing from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other substances. If your health coverage is administered by Meritain Health, our admissions team can verify your benefits by phone and explain what your plan covers before you arrive.
What is Meritain Health?
Meritain Health is a third-party administrator owned by Aetna. Rather than selling insurance directly, Meritain administers health plans for employers that fund their own benefits, and most of those plans use the Aetna provider network. If your insurance card says Meritain Health, your employer’s plan is likely one of these, and your behavioral health benefits are what determine coverage for detox and addiction treatment.
Because each employer plan is set up differently, coverage details vary from one Meritain member to the next. That is why we check your specific benefits rather than making assumptions.
How Meritain Coverage Works for Detox
Does Meritain cover medical detox?
Plans administered by Meritain generally cover medically necessary treatment for substance use disorders, including medically supervised detox. What you pay depends on your plan’s deductible, copays, and coinsurance, and on whether Allure is in network for your plan.
Is authorization required?
Inpatient detox usually requires prior authorization. Our admissions team submits the request and the clinical documentation on your behalf and keeps you updated until it is approved.
How long does verification take?
A benefits check usually takes a few minutes by phone. We will explain any expected out-of-pocket costs before you make a decision.
What Detox at Allure Looks Like
Every client is medically assessed on arrival and given an individualized plan for managing withdrawal. Symptoms are treated with medication-assisted treatment where appropriate, under 24-hour medical supervision. Comfort and safety are the priority, and our staff understands how hard the first few days can be.
Detox is also where the next step gets planned. Research on detoxification treatment from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration describes three parts to the process: evaluation, stabilization, and preparing the patient to enter ongoing treatment. On that last point:
“All three components (evaluation, stabilization, and fostering a patient’s entry into treatment) involve treating the patient with compassion and understanding. Patients undergoing detoxification need to know that someone cares about them, respects them as individuals, and has hope for their future.” (SAMHSA TIP 45, via NCBI)
That is how we approach it. Before you leave detox, our team works with you on what comes next, whether that is residential treatment at Allure or a program closer to home, so there is no gap in care.
