If your health plan’s mental health and substance use benefits are managed by Beacon Health Options, now operating as Carelon Behavioral Health, Allure Detox can help you use those benefits for medical detox and residential treatment in West Palm Beach, Florida. Our admissions team verifies your coverage by phone and handles the authorization process so you can focus on getting well.
Fear of withdrawal keeps many people from asking for help at all. That is exactly what medically supervised detox is for: making the first step safe and manageable, so it stops being the thing that holds you back.
What is Beacon Health Options?
Beacon Health Options is a behavioral health management company rather than a traditional insurer. Employers and health plans contract with it to administer the mental health and substance use portion of their benefits, including provider networks and authorizations. Beacon was acquired by Anthem and renamed Carelon Behavioral Health in 2023, so your card, plan documents, or authorization letters may show either name.
Because Beacon works on behalf of many different plans, benefits vary from one member to the next. What your plan covers for detox depends on the underlying plan, your deductible and cost share, and whether Allure is in network for you.
How Beacon Coverage Works for Detox
Is detox covered?
Plans managed by Beacon generally cover medically necessary treatment for substance use disorders, including medically supervised detox, residential treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions.
Is authorization required?
Inpatient detox and residential treatment usually require prior authorization, with continued stays reviewed for medical necessity. Our admissions team submits the request and our clinical team provides the documentation.
What will I pay?
Your cost depends on your plan’s deductible, copays, and coinsurance, and on network status. We go over the expected costs with you before admission so there are no surprises.
Why Detox Needs Medical Supervision
Withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines can be medically dangerous, and withdrawal from opioids and other drugs, while rarely life-threatening, is often severe enough that people give up and use again for relief. The National Institute on Drug Abuse describes it this way:
Withdrawal describes the various symptoms that occur after a person abruptly reduces or stops long-term use of a drug. Length of withdrawal and symptoms vary with the type of drug. For example, physical symptoms of heroin withdrawal may include restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting, and cold flashes. These physical symptoms may last for several days, but the general depression, or dysphoria (opposite of euphoria), that often accompanies heroin withdrawal may last for weeks. In many cases, withdrawal can easily be treated with medications to ease the symptoms, but treating withdrawal is not the same as treating addiction. (NIDA)
That last line is why detox at Allure is the beginning of treatment, not the end of it.
Medical Detox at Allure
We provide medically supervised detox for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and other substances. Every client is assessed on arrival and given an individualized plan. Medications are used where appropriate to ease symptoms and reduce the risk of complications, and clients are monitored around the clock by a team that specializes in addiction medicine. How long detox takes depends on the substance, how long it was used, and your medical history. Before you leave, our team works with you on what comes next so there is no gap in care.
Verify Your Coverage
Call our admissions team with the information on your card, whether it says Beacon, Carelon, or the name of your health plan. We identify how your behavioral health benefits are managed, verify your coverage, request any authorization needed, and explain your costs. The insurance verification is free and confidential, and it usually takes a few minutes.
