Florida has more addiction treatment capacity than almost any other state, and people come here from across the country to begin recovery. Allure Detox is a licensed medical detox and residential treatment center in West Palm Beach, on Florida’s southeast coast. About half of our clients are from South Florida and the Treasure Coast. The rest travel to us from elsewhere in Florida and from other states, most often New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast.

Why People Come to Florida for Treatment

Three things bring people here. The first is distance. Early recovery is easier with some space from the people, places, and routines tied to drinking or drug use, and a flight or a long drive provides that. The second is the recovery community. Palm Beach County and the surrounding area have one of the largest concentrations of treatment providers, sober living homes, and 12-step meetings in the country, which makes it a practical place to continue care after detox. The third is availability. When someone is finally ready, waiting for a bed can be the difference between starting treatment and changing their mind, and Florida’s capacity means that wait is usually short.

For people already living in Florida, those same factors apply on a smaller scale. Treatment an hour or two from home is often far enough for a fresh start and close enough for family to take part in therapy.

What Treatment Looks Like

Addiction, clinically called substance use disorder, is a chronic medical condition. Treatment is not one program but a continuum of care, and most people move through more than one level as they stabilize. Allure provides the first two levels below at our West Palm Beach facility and arranges the rest before you leave.

Medical Detox

Detox is the period when the body clears the substance, and for alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids it should happen under medical supervision. Withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines can be dangerous, and opioid withdrawal is severe enough that most people give up without medical help. At Allure, clients are assessed on arrival, given an individualized plan, treated with medications where appropriate, and monitored around the clock. Medical detox is our core service.

Residential Treatment

After detox, many clients continue into residential treatment at the same facility, so there is no move between the two. Residential care addresses the psychological and emotional sides of addiction through individual, group, and family therapy, dual diagnosis care for co-occurring mental health conditions, and holistic therapies such as yoga, acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic care. The length of stay depends on the person.

Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient Care

These step-down levels provide structured therapy for several hours a day or several days a week while you live at home or in sober housing. Allure does not run them on site. Before you leave, our team arranges the right next step, often through our sister facilities in the Recreate Behavioral Health Network, which has locations in Palm Beach County and beyond, so you can continue treatment close to home.

Aftercare and Sober Living

Your aftercare plan is built before discharge and includes relapse prevention, ongoing therapy, support groups, and, when needed, a sober living placement. Our alumni community stays connected after treatment ends.

How to Choose a Rehab in Florida

Florida’s size means a wide range of quality. A few checks separate the good programs from the rest.

  • Licensing and accreditation. Addiction treatment providers in Florida must be licensed by the Department of Children and Families. Independent accreditation from a body such as the Joint Commission is a further sign that a facility meets recognized standards.
  • Medical detox on site. Some programs do not offer detox and send clients elsewhere for it. If you need to withdraw from alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, confirm the facility has medical staff on site around the clock.
  • Honesty about levels of care. Ask which levels of care the program provides itself and which it refers out, and how the handoff works. A program that claims to do everything usually does not.
  • Evidence-based treatment. Look for therapies supported by SAMHSA and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and medication-assisted treatment.
  • Insurance verification before you commit. A reputable program will check your benefits for free and tell you what you will pay before admission.

The SAMHSA treatment locator at findtreatment.gov lists licensed facilities by location, and the Florida Department of Children and Families oversees publicly funded treatment for people without insurance.

Traveling to Allure Detox

Our facility is in West Palm Beach, about 10 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport and 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale. Our admissions team coordinates travel for clients coming from elsewhere in Florida and from out of state, and confirms insurance coverage, including out-of-state plans, before you book anything. For families, we can often include remote participation in family therapy so distance does not keep anyone out of the process.

Insurance Coverage

Allure Detox works with many major U.S. health insurance plans, including out-of-state Blue Cross Blue Shield plans through BlueCard, so your insurance may cover part or all of a medically supervised detox.
